Why Our Children Don't Think There Are Moral Facts - NYTimes.com

  1. But children of all people accept moral certitude and they are taught some of it in the schools. They are taught not to bully, not to cheat and not to discriminate. It's the rest of society that fails them, especially religion.

    We see a society that, by just keeping in the mainstream Christian denomination, we have no consensus on any modern moral dilemma. Be it abortion, birth control, capital punishment, divorce, euthanasia, feminism, gay marriage, homosexuality, Iraq war, etc. one sees no consensus from the myriad people of good faith that intelligently, prayerfully and honestly address these issues.
